Dr. Harrison describes the principles behind the ability of vacuum ultraviolet light to provide distinct spectral data for every compound, including structural isomers, that is both quantitative and qualitative.  He also discusses key properties of VUV spectroscopy including deconvolution of co-eluting analytes and compound class analysis.  The utility of VUV light is demonstrated in a number of applications including gasoline analysis and breath gas characterization.
