Meet Jack
Jack has spent 30 years in laboratories performing GC method development related to environmental, food safety, metabolomics, forensics, petroleum, and cannabis applications.  He is a noted expert in sample preparation, GC-MS, and GC×GC, and is frequently an invited speaker at scientific conferences. Jack oversees the Applications Team at VUV Analytics as well as develop new applications for the award-winning VGA-100, VGA-101, and SVGA-100 gas chromatography and streaming gas detectors.  Jack previously served as Director of New Business and Technology at Restek where he led the GC Applications Team and contributed significantly to new product development.

Alex Hodgson

Acting Applications Manager

Meet Alex
Alex Hodgson is the Acting Applications Manager at VUV Analytics, Inc.  In his almost 4 years at VUV, he has been instrumental in  research focused on fuels analysis, specifically the ASTM D8267 jet fuel method and the diesel method.  He also lead the charge in the creation of vacuum ultraviolet applications for the flavor and fragrance industries, among a variety of other VUV-related endeavors.  Prior to coming to VUV Analytics, Alex was a member of the Center for Disease Control’s team in Atlanta, where his research was on tobacco exposure biomarkers. He earned a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.S. in biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

James Diekmann

Application Scientist & Lab Manager
Meet James
James Diekmann is currently an Application Scientist for VUV Analytics. He has been with VUV Analytics for over 4 years and is recognized as an expert in GC-VUV.  Currently, he focuses on headspace analysis for volatile compounds in complex matrices such as blood. Previously, he worked on hydrocarbon characterization in gasoline-range petroleum analysis using GC-VUV.  He has a B.S in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Texas at Austin.

Ryan Schonert

Application Scientist
Meet Ryan
Ryan Schonert is currently an Application Scientist for VUV Analytics.  Prior to joining VUV Analytics, Ryan performed research on the extraction and characterization of additives in smokeless powders using GC-MS and SEM-EDS.  He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Illinois Wesleyan University and an M.P.S. in Forensic Science from the Pennsylvania State University.
