VUV Analyze™ engine reduces complexity and improves efficiency of routine fuel analysis
Austin, TX – February 23, 2016
VUV Analytics has recently announced an innovative analysis engine called VUV Analyze™ that supports new application specific methods for the VGA-100, the world’s first vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) absorption gas chromatography (GC) detector. The VUV Analyze™ engine is capable of dramatically simplifying and reducing the time required for complex chromatographic separations. VUV Analyze™ implements equations and fit procedures that result in deconvolution of absorbance spectra which contains contributions from multiple species, and reports compound class or specific compound concentrations as a mass or volume percent. The first application method released for VUV Analyze™ is VUV PIONA+™, which produces detailed and bulk classification analysis on petroleum-based fuels, an analysis which previously required multiple ASTM methods or complex comprehensive approaches. Now with VUV PIONA+™, analytical chemists can perform routine fuel analysis in a much quicker and efficient manner.
“We are thrilled to announce the VUV Analyze™ and the VUV PIONA+™ method”, said Sean Jameson, Senior Vice President of Business Development at VUV Analytics, “These feature enhancements were specifically developed with our refinery customers in mind. This powerful analysis engine and simple method will add immediate value to the lab by reducing complexity and analysis time. The spectral data set also allows for a type of visual verification of the reported results.”
In 2016, VUV Analytics plans on launching additional methods for the VUV Analyze™ analysis engine. GCVUV technology is currently being used by analytical chemists in petroleum, petrochemical, food safety, academic research, and environmental science applications. The VGA-100 detector paired with VUV Analyze™ stands to greatly simplify many complex chromatographic methods.
The VGA-100 detector has claimed the distinguished “Best New Analytical Instrument” award at the Gulf Coast Conference, emerging from a competitive field of the world’s newest scientific instruments. Additionally, The Analytical Scientist named the VGA-100 a Top 5 winner in their annual Innovation Awards. Most recently, the R&D magazine named the VGA-100 a 2015 R&D 100 Market Disruptor Product Winner. These awards represent validation from leading analytical chemists of the vast potential offered by this seminal and unique approach to a largely routine and established science.
